Christof Kalumbu is a male model that wants to change the stereotypal image of his profession in the Land of the Brave.
Growing up in a small village called Ontokolo in the Omusati Region, where many people believe modelling is for women, Christof says it was not easy making the decision to become a model. But because of the passion and high level of professionalism he maintains, he managed to continue to convince friends and family that modelling is also for men. For a long time now pssst! has heard how young actors and directors complain about the often harsh play reviews by veteran playwright and director, Frederick Philander. Philander has been in the theatre industry for over two decades and writes theatre reviews for local newspapers.
Philander, who rarely has anything good to say, recently wrote reviews on plays by new playwrights and directors Jacques Mushaandja and Gloria Shilo respectively. Philander criticised Mushaandja’s work on the play Forgotten Children. Read more about Philander simply frustrated?

The emceeing game is not as easy as most people believe and it takes a certain style - and a lot of research - to pull off a huge show like the Windhoek Jazz Festival.
Most people think being a master of ceremonies (MC) is about introducing the various speakers at an event and that it is an easy thing to do. But, Windhoek Jazz Festival MC, Corrie du Plessis, doesn’t agree.
He says an MC should create an atmosphere of interest, expectation and receptivity - designed to keep the audience entertained. His or her job is to make sure everything goes smoothly.
