Mazda CX-5 - Soul in motion

IOL MOTORING

Mazda's answer to the VW Tiguan, Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4 and friends has landed on South African shores but more momentous is the fact that it marks our introduction to the company's smart Skyactiv engine, transmission and chassis technology.

This five-seat crossover is also the first Mazda to embody the Japanese carmaker's 'Kodo Soul of Motion' styling theme, which they say was inspired by a cheetah in motion. Read more about Mazda CX-5 - Soul in motion

Honda’s starter scoot: basic it’s not

IOL MOTORING

Honda's credentials in the world of scooters go back to the 1954 Juno K, which set the benchmark with an electric-start four-stroke engine and a full windscreen, followed by the Super Cub in 1958, which is still in production - more than 60 million units later.

Nevertheless, in attempt to broaden its customer base in what it sees as more 'sophisticated' markets - including ours in South Africa - Honda has introduced an entry-level scooter for the cappuccino crowd - the Vision 110. Read more about Honda’s starter scoot: basic it’s not

Opel Astra GTC undeniably attractive

TOPCAR

Opel’s previous Astra GTC showed us that three door hatchbacks make for very sexy coupes. Its metal skin was dramatically chiseled with hard creases and sharp lines endowing it with proper street presence and if you went for the two litre turbo petrol, was a fire-breathing GTI rival too. I had high expectations for the new car. First things first, apart from the OPC derivative due within a year, the new GTC range is utterly devoid of a ‘hot’ version. I am afraid

Question:

Dear Auntie Nangy
I was married to a man with whom I have two children but I’m not with him any more but he comes to my place day and night to see if I’m with another man. I am afraid and I don’t know what to do. He is very jealous.

Answer:

Angel, you must get immediate help. Open a case with the police but at the same time see if you can move in with family or friends for a short while until you are sure that the police have opened a case and are taking you seriously. Tell everyone that you know about the situation so that your husband is aware that people know about it. If you feel that the police are not doing enough to make you feel safe then contact the Legal Assistance Centre for information on how to proceed. With all the gender based violence that we currently experience it is very important that you must do everything possible to ensure the safety of yourself and your children. Please take care.

It feels like insects on my body

Question:

Dear Auntie Nangy
I’m a 35-year-old single woman and sometimes it feels like something like insects are walking all over my body especially my head and private parts. I visited doctors since 2003 but nothing changed. The doctors do blood tests but they can not find anything wrong. I started losing hair on the top and the right side of my head. I can’t sleep at night and I feel my life will end because of this disease I don’t know or heard of before in my life. Is this depression and what is depression? Please Auntie, help me!

Answer:

Dear, you might very well have a psychological disorder such as depression that might not show up in a blood test, but unfortunately Auntie can not help you as this is a serious condition that can only be diagnosed by a psychologist or psychiatrist. You must go to a doctor and ask for a referral to such a specialist that will be able to treat you.

I’m interested in writing poetry

Question:

Dear Auntie Nangy
I’m a 16-year-old girl and I am very interested in writing poetry and I want to be a poet. I have never entered a competition but I have at least 27 poems of my own. Auntie what must I do in order to register them as mine and have my poems printed?

Answer:

Auntie always enjoy hearing from young people that still writes and read and not only text and watch television and this is the kind of hobby or pursuit that must be encouraged. Luckily there is just such a platform in Namibia called Spoken Word. They usually host an event in Windhoek every first Wednesday of the month, at the Nedbank Theatre School and you can contact the following people on the committee:

Oshosheni Hivelua at 081 232 1222, Clara 081 128 4413 or Abed Erastus at 081 122 2335.
I know that publishers are not keen to publish poetry and it can be very expensive but don’t let something like this stop your dreams. It is not difficult or expensive to make your own books so why don’t you start by putting your poems in books that you make yourself. This will make wonderful presents for your friends and family.

My penis is completely flat

Question:

Dear Auntie Nangy
I am a man of 39 and I have a premature ejaculation problem. When I have sex it only takes two minutes and my penis is completely flat. I don’t satisfy my girlfriend and am afraid I might lose her. Aunty, is there any tablets/drugs that can help? If there is where can I find it? Please Aunty I really need your help and advice.

Answer:

If life were fair men would have had a small pump built into their testicles and every time they have a flat penis they could just inflate it. Just joking. This is a serious but common problem among men and about 30% to 40% of men have this problem at some time in their lives. Premature ejaculation happens when a man has an orgasm sooner than he or his partner would like and can happen before or shortly after penetration although there is no set time for how long a man should “last” during sex. But when a man has an orgasm before he wants to, he loses his erection and can’t continue with intercourse and this can be frustrating and embarrassing as you may feel you don’t have enough time to enjoy sex or have difficulty satisfying your partner. For some men, embarrassment about premature ejaculation can cause problems with intimacy and damage their relationships. A number of emotional and physical factors can lead to premature ejaculation for instance when a man becomes too excited or stimulated, or if his penis is very sensitive or if a man is nervous or uncomfortable with a new partner. Other common causes could be anxiety about performance, guilty feelings, depression, stress or relationship problems. For these issues, seeking the help of a psychologist, psychiatrist or sex therapist may be helpful. Men who have a low amount of a special chemical called serotonin in their brain may have problems with premature ejaculation. Your first step should be to see a doctor and there is no need to be embarrassed as they deal with this kind of problem daily. Premature ejaculation often goes away without treatment but there are several possible methods for delaying orgasm. In the start-and-stop method, you or your partner will stimulate your penis until you feel like you are about to have an orgasm and then stops for about 30 seconds until you regain control of your response before stimulation begins again. This process is repeated 3 or 4 times before you allow yourself to have an orgasm. The squeeze method works in a similar way. When you feel like you are about to ejaculate, you or your partner will gently squeeze the head of your penis for about 30 seconds so that you begin to lose your erection and repeat this process several times before you allow yourself to reach orgasm. Anesthetic creams can also be used to prevent premature ejaculation and you can get this at a pharmacy. These creams are applied to the head of the penis to make it less sensitive. For some men, simply wearing a condom can help delay ejaculation because it may make the penis slightly less sensitive.
